The Dimarzio Dark Matter 2 passive middle single-coil is the latest pickup to come from the boundary-pushing mind of Steve Vai. Like all of Vai's pickups the Dark Matter 2 boasts a high-output design for matching well with the Dark Matter 2 humbuckers, attaining the most sustain and liquid tone from your amplifier. Since the Dark Matter 2 was specifically designed for use in Steve's mahogany-bodied Jem guitar, its top end has been subdued slightly, keeping the tone of the pickup full and round when playing on the upper frets. And the pickups' satin nickel color definitely make it stand out.
