This region boasts a proud centuries-old tradition of violin making where the craft is still a way of life for many people.The V200 model Violin from Hora is a prime example of this. Hand-built by a few skilled luthiers in the Hora factory, these instruments can be imported only in small batches.  Hora's master violin makers, in keeping with tradition, will not rush production for a large order, preferring to monitor the building of each instrument to ensure every one is up to the high standards they adhere to.  They simply will not accept the giant import orders that frequently come in from Asia, because quality rules above all.Based in what is known as the "City of Violins," Reghin, Romanian, Hora understands the age-old traditions well, and has great concern for the environment when producing its instruments.  Only select spruce and maple from the Romanian Carpathian Mountains is used in the making of the V200 series. Every tree, as with all of nature, is different, and an expert technician will know how to "read the wood" and choose the sections and subtle grain variations that will achieve the maximum qualities of sound and tone for the instrument. Once selected and cut, the wood is naturally seasoned and dried over a period of 5-10 years.Responsibly-sourced ebony is also used for the fingerboard and parts of the instrument.  Environmentally friendly water based lacquers and varnishes are used on Hora instruments, which are better for the wood and environment, and also tend to produce a more open and powerful sound than other finishes may.
