It uses "Short Scale" bass strings. Standard long-scale strings will be too long and may cause issues with the winding at the tuners.

Do the PJ pickups hum?
The Dynamix P (neck) pickup is hum-canceling. The J (bridge) pickup is a single coil and may produce a slight hum if used alone near high-interference electronics, but when combined, they provide a very full and balanced sound.
